Last week the book fair visited our school. I hope you enjoyed visiting the fair and seeing the new books available. Now that you have had a chance to see the books, I need your help! What books would you like me to get from the book fair for our library? I can’t wait to read your responses!

What great students I have! I was so happy today when I logged on to my computer and saw all the wonderful messages on the blog from my kids. I’m glad to hear that so many of you are reading some really great stories, and that many of you are working hard to move up on the reading bulletin board in the hallway (almost to 100 Christian R. – way to go). Many of you asked where I am. Well, I had to have surgery last Wednesday, so I was in the hospital in Springfield. I am at home now resting so that I can heal and get back to you guys soon! I miss you so much. It is definitely lonely here, though I do have my dog Toby to keep me company. Please keep writing to me to let me know what you are doing and what books you are reading. I just finished a great book called Nim’s Island. Hope to hear from you soon!

I hope you all know that I will miss you very much while I am gone for the next three weeks. Please write and tell me about the books you are reading and what you are doing. I won’t be able to write back for a bit, but know that I will read everything you write to me. It will cheer me up greatly to hear from my students. Be good for the substitute!

 October 22, 2007 is International School Library Day! What a great holiday! You know that I love being your librarian and that I think reading is great fun. What is your favorite thing about our library media center?

Now that you’ve watched the Mark Twain Award video, which book do you think you will like the best? Why do you think you will like that book?

Remember, one of the books I thought I would love was my least favorite on the list, and one of the books that I really did not want to read is my very favorite. What book did you select as your “challenge” book (the book that you don’t think you will like but you are going to challenge yourself to read anyway)?

Guess what, Branson Elementary? It’s Book Fair week! This week you will have the chance to visit the book fair with your class and purchase books of your very own to keep at your house. The money raised by the book fair helps us get new books for the library. So, I need your help! If you could pick one book from the book fair that you would like me to buy for the library, what book would you pick? I can’t wait to hear your suggestions!

P.S. Don’t forget that we have Family Book Night on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 in the elementary gym. You will get to hear lots of great stories, play games, do craft activities, and have snacks! We hope to see you there, and don’t forget to shop the book fair!
