As you know, Lola Schaefer, the author of the 2007 Show Me Award winner Arrowhawk, is coming to visit our school next week. Eight lucky kids have a chance to win lunch with Ms. Schaefer! To enter the contest, you need to write a good descriptive paragraph to me telling me why you think you deserve to have lunch with the author. Here’s what you need to do to enter the contest:
1. Write your persuasive paragraph. Make sure you include specific reasons why you should get to have lunch with her. Be convincing! Type your paragraph in Word and save it so you don’t lose your work.
2. Copy your paragraph and paste it into a comment on this blog post. Your teacher or I can help you do this if you do not know how. Remember to use our Internet safety rules and only post your first name and your room number.
3. Submit your paragraph before the end of the day on Friday.
4. Check the blog next week to see if you are one of the winnners.

It inspired me to think about how we humans get to live in warm houses, get good food, and has a soft bed to sleep in, when wild animals can get killed just trying to find food or a house. I have written this letter to tell you a few reasons why I should get to have lunch with Ms Lola Schaefer. It would be great if you picked me, and I would really enjoy it. I hope you will read my letter intently.
The first reason I should get to have lunch with Ms Lola Schaefer is that I am a young author, and I could probably get some advice. I have heard about your contest and this really means a LOT to me. Lola Schaefer is one of the people that really inspire me. Dear Mrs.Matzat,
I think I should eat lunch with Lola Schaefer because I have read lots of her books.She is my favorite author!M favorite book that she wrote is Arrow Hawk.She uses great describing and powerful words.I have 75.09 ar points.I got those many points by reading her books.I didn’t get to vote for Mark Twain Awards because I was India.I have never gotten to eat lunch with any other authors.I have all her books.I think to be a author sounds like an exciting life.
I loved how she wrote ‘blood was seeping out’ because she was being descriptive on how the blood from the hawks thigh was coming out.I would like to get an autograph from an author of a famous book. I would like to know where she got the idea to write the story.I am trying to get to one-hundred Points for the fun of it, am interested in reading Arrow Hawk.I’ve read four books of the Harry Potter series.I’ve wanted to meet an author for so long and this is my chance and not only do I get to meet her I get to it lunch with her!!I really like the part when it shows the picture at the end I really felt the motion in it.I would like to ask her how she got a idea about writing about a bird.I have thousand questions for her to answer.She has a lot that I can learn from. Some of her books are based on a real story which I think is pretty cool. So please pick me for this great chance and honor.

You should pick me because I love to write stories about mythical creatures and I like to write about horses. I like to write about horses because they are beautiful sweet animals. I love the city of ember and i’m only on pg 30. I also have cornelia and the audacious escapades of the sumerset sisters I haven’t started that one yet. I am so psyched about the mark twain award I have read 3 of them and im reading the wright three (from Mrs.Pingleton’s library) which is my fourth mark twain but my goal is to read all of them and get 100 points so I can go to dixie stanpede at the end of the year because I love there food there and my cousin use to jump the ring of fire. His name is benaiah Snyder. He works at crane at the electric place. My grandpa use to work there. My next mark twain is cornelia then it will be moon shadow.
