Love, Lizzie: Letters to a Military Mom

November 11 is Veterans Day, which always gets me thinking about the men and women who serve in the armed forces to protect our country. One of the centers in the LMC has you read a great story called Love, Lizze: Letters to a Military Mom. When I read this book, it reminded me of when I was young and my dad, who was in the air force, often had to leave our family to travel to other countries. I missed him very much when he was gone, and I was always very happy when he returned home safely.

Now that you have read Love, Lizzie, tell me how the story made you feel? What do you think it would be like to be Lizzie and have your mom gone for a long time to another country?

I can’t wait to read your comments!

    Dear Mrs.Matzat,

It made me feel like I was Lizzie because my mom works too. I think the solders wanted you to be safe and not climb trees. If my mom was gone for a long time i would write to her too. this book was a graet book to teach you about when your mom or dad is in the Air Force.

    Dear Mrs.Matzat

Love,Lizzie;Letters to a Military Mom made me feel sad alittle because I wouldn’t want my mom to be gone because she was in the military. It also made me feel happy at the end because she got to see her mom and her mom was unharmed.
